Booking
Pentland Ferries Booking Offices are situated at St Margaret’s Hope and Gills Bay ferry terminals, this allows us to provide an up to date service and to let you know of any news that is relevant to your crossing, as well as local information.
We believe that booking and travel with us should be as easy as possible. You can book online or by telephoning our booking offices based at Gill’s Bay and St Margaret’s Hope (Monday – Friday, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm). You will be guaranteed a friendly and personal service from both offices.
As of 1 July 2024, all payment for travel must be made by debit or credit card at the time of booking (cash payments will no longer be accepted). The change is to improve efficiency and ensure that all bookings are secured in advance (and that we are not holding space for passengers that no longer wish to travel).
Please be aware that if you are using any form of gift or discount vouchers (including Scot Exec vouchers), bookings cannot be made online. In these circumstances, please contact the booking office direct.
Passengers should arrive at the ferry terminal no later than 30 minutes before departure time (book in advance by calling the booking office with your card payment details or using our online booking system). For passengers that arrive at the terminal without an advanced booking, payment can be made in the shoreside office by credit/debit card one hour before sailing, please note, we do not accept American Express.
We do not charge an amendment or cancellation fee for bookings made over the phone with our Customer Services staff. Customers who have made a booking online will not be charged an amendment fee and will receive a full refund if cancelled by 4pm the day before travel.
For vans over 7m, commercial vehicles and freight, please contact our booking offices in order to obtain a quote and make a booking. These vehicles cannot be booked online.
If you plan to carry Dangerous Goods, this must be declared and booked with at least 24 hours’ notice. See our FAQ for more information.
Please Note: Under 16’s are not allowed to travel on the ferry unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
