The MV Pentalina has now returned to service and is operating to the published timetable.
Director of Pentland Ferries, Kathryn Scollie, said: “We are very pleased to have the MV Pentalina return to service. While the ship is smaller, with less passenger and vehicle capacity, we can confirm that, with some adjustment, all pre-booked car and passenger traffic will be accommodated.
“Unfortunately, due to the late arrival of a replacement part for the passenger lift, we will be unable to accept passengers that require lift access at this time.
“All pre-booked customers that may be affected by our reduced service – private and commercial – will be contacted directly.
‘We thank everyone for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience. We are doing all we can to bring MV Alfred back on the route, so that normal service can resume as soon as possible.”
